Arya Samaj Marriage is not different from traditional Hindu Marriage, and people that the marriages at Arya Samaj Mandir are performed very similar to that of Hinduism. the only differenceis that in the marriage ceremony ancient Pandits use lot of verses from Vedas along with other verses from scriptures.
Those who do not know much about Arya Samaj Mandir, wonder how the marriages are conducted at Arya Samaj Mandir. Some of them even think that Arya Samaj Mandir does not perform marriages instead they give Certificate of Marriage without any solemnizing of marriage. Some people consider Arya Samaj as a very different denomination from Hinduism which follows different kinds of traditions.
We would like to explain to such people that the marriages at Arya Samaj Mandir are performed very similar to that of Hinduism. Only difference is that in the marriage ceremony ancient Pandits use lot of verses from Vedas along with other verses from scriptures, while the founder of Arya Samaj, Maharshi Dayananda has described marriage ceremony verses recitation purely from Vedas.
The rituals and ceremony that are conducted in Arya Samaj, Maharshi Dayananda has described extended rituals mainly on the basis of pure Vedas. But, as we all understand that our country is a vast country having multicultural traditions and has diversity in many things. In our country there are numerous traditions, especially in the marriage ceremony. Marriage is a very important process where traditional activities and small small local rituals are conducted in a very short time. Consequently, every activity has a time constraint. The most important ceremony of marriage is also not left untouched by this problem. Today, people do not have much time in the fast going world and they cannot sit in the marriage ceremony for a long time. The routine of life has become very fast and everybody is in a hurry and they pressurize the Pandit who solemnizes the marriage because they do not have the time.
Therefore Panditji also consider the helplessness of people and incorporate only the main rituals into the marriage ceremony.
